AR4640, Gibson L-7 Big Joe Williams , 1944, heavily played but structurally stable, owned and used by Delta bluesman "Big Joe Williams" from 1964 until his death in 1982. Williams customized his guitars by adding three strings/tuners to the end of the peghead to double the 1st, 2nd and 4th strings thus creating his unique sound. Williams performed with Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Lonnie Johnson, Memphis Slim, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf and Son House as well as numerous others throughout his career. Most notably Williams performed several duets with Bob Dylan in 1962.
